Resumo

Este artigo aborda a crise das utopias coletivas que situaram na religião, ideologia, ciência, educação, economia e, mais recentemente, na tecnologia e na cultura, as esperanças de redenção e felicidade da humanidade. Sem negar o poder da cultura, essa reflexão destaca seus limites como “salvadora” e aponta seu potencial para fomentar transformações que impulsionem o futuro em direção a um melhor convívio entre pessoas e sociedades. Ressalta, ainda, a necessidade de se repensar os papéis do Estado, da iniciativa privada e da sociedade civil em relação às políticas culturais e assinala a importância de se aprender a fazer política cultural nesse novo cenário em que o virtual é tão real e presente quanto o mundo físico que a humanidade, desde a sua origem, experimenta. Ao final, esse texto procura demonstrar como, para além de assimilar o uso cotidiano de hardwares e softwares, esse aprendizado requer incluir no planejamento das iniciativas culturais, de forma estratégica, as ciências da informação.

Abstract

The article runs through the crisis of collective utopias that have placed religion, ideology, science, education, economics, and, more recently, technology and culture, humanity’s hopes for redemption and happiness. Without denying the power of culture, it emphasizes its limits as a “savior” and points out its potential to foster transformations that will propel the future towards a better conviviality between people and societies. It emphasizes the need to rethink the roles of the state, private initiative
and civil society in relation to cultural policies and stresses the importance of learning how to make cultural policy in the new scenario in which the virtual is as real and present as the physical world which humanity has experienced since its origin. In the end, it tries to demonstrate how,in addition to assimilating the daily use of hardware and software, this learning requires to include in the planning of cultural initiatives, strategically, a new old known: the archivology.
