Resumo

O presente texto aborda um projeto de extensão desenvolvido no âmbito da Universidade Aberta à Terceira Idade (UnATI) da Escola de Artes, Ciências e Humanidades (EACH) da Universidade de São Paulo (USP), a Oficina de Turismo Social – Viver São Paulo. Oferecida semestralmente desde 2009 de forma ininterrupta, conta atualmente com a participação de aproximadamente 150 idosas(os) e já promoveu a visita a mais de cem diferentes locais do município de São Paulo. Por meio da história oral, realizou-se, entre julho e agosto de 2019, uma coleta de dados (entrevistas) junto a dez idosas(os) participantes da atividade, que relataram alguns aspectos relativos ao envolvimento com o projeto e os benefícios dele decorrentes para a memória, a aprendizagem e a sociabilidade, entre outros. Entre os principais aspectos mencionados pelas(os) entrevistadas(os) destacam-se os vínculos afetivos criados e/ou fortalecidos, a descoberta da cidade e de suas atrações, a aquisição de conhecimentos e as lembranças ativadas por meio das visitas. Conclui-se que existe um forte sentimento de apropriação, por parte das(os) idosas(os), desta atividade e, consequentemente, da cidade, revelando o potencial educativo da oficina e a importância que tal participação adquire na expansão do universo cognitivo, bem como na construção de laços sociais.

Abstract

The current text is related to an extension project developed by Third Age Open University (Universidade Aberta à Terceira Idade - UnATI) from School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (Escola de Artes, Ciências e Humanidades – EACH) of University of São Paulo (Universidade de São Paulo – USP), the Social Tourism Workshop – Viver São Paulo. Since 2009, the workshop has been offered every semester uninterruptedly, with currently approximately 150 seniors taking part of it, and already promoted the visitation of more than 100 different places in the city of São Paulo. Between July and August 2019, data collection was realized through oral history, interviewing ten seniors who joined the activities, explaining aspects related to the involvement with the project and the benefits of it related to the memory, the learning, and the sociability, among others. Within the main aspects mentioned by the interviewees, the highlights were the affective bond created and/or strengthened, the discovery of the city and its attractions, the acquisition of knowledge and the memories brought back due to the visits. In conclusion, there is among the participants a strong feeling of appropriation of the activity and, consequently, the city, revealing the educational potential of the workshop and the importance that joining it has in the expansion of the cognitive universe, as well in the construction of social bonds.
