Resumo

Este artigo visa socializar conhecimentos sobre as experiências sociais de idosos no cárcere cuja construção fundamenta-se em uma pesquisa qualitativa calcada no método dialético crítico. Para a objetivação dessa pesquisa foram trianguladas a revisão documental, a observação participante e a técnica de história oral temática. As histórias foram consentidas por dez participantes em entrevistas guiadas no interior do Presídio Central de Porto Alegre/RS, no verão de 2014. Essas narrações foram transcriadas para compor a reflexão sobre o fenômeno estudado na perspectiva teórica da gerontologia social, da criminologia crítica e do materialismo histórico dialético. Isso possibilitou o desvendamento das sobrecargas de segregações sofridas por esse grupo na prisão e as necessidades subsumidas dele na massificação da população carcerária e nas dinâmicas prisionais. Por outro lado, são desvelados os modos de sobrevivência e resistência ao contexto prisional em que se confrontam a negação e a demanda por direitos. A finitude da vida e a desvalorização social são exemplos dos significados sociais atribuídos por esses sujeitos à experiência de prisão na velhice. Destacam-se ainda a fragilidade da proteção social da população idosa no Brasil, as estatísticas produzidas pelos órgãos oficiais sobre o encarceramento de idosos e a normatização jurídico-penal dispensada a este segmento.

Abstract

The social experience of individuals¿with imprisonment, it self, overflows with experiences of violence, erasure of subjectivities and denial of human dignity. This article deals with the social experiences of the elderly with prison, seeking to achieve how they are particularized in terms of the overloads of segregation, the subsumption of human needs to the massification of prisons dynamics, but also valuing the ways of survival and resistance to the prison context by those who experience imprisonment in old age. The approach to the subject emerges from a qualitative research, based on the dialectical-critical method, which triangulated theoretical sources such as social gerontology, critical criminology and dialectical historical materialism, as well as information gathering techniques such as documentary analysis, participant observation and interview in thematic oral history. Ten elderly were interviewed in the interior of the Central Prison of Porto Alegre/RS in the summer of 2014. The study revealed, among the meanings attributed by these subjects to social experience with prison, confrontation with the finitude of life and social disqualification. It was also possible to verify the invisibility of this population segment with regard to social protection, as well as in the statistics produced by the official bodies on the imprisonment of the elderly and in the legal- penal norm provided to this segment.
