Resumo
Este artigo apresenta uma experiência cultural e voluntária de mediação para fins de remição de pena de prisão pela leitura. O projeto “Travessia” é uma iniciativa de professores e alunos da Universidade de São Paulo, que semanalmente realizam encontros na Penitenciária Feminina da Capital, em São Paulo, propondo-se a garantir um direito por meio da leitura compartilhada e da bibliodiversidade literária. A partir dessa experiência, busco elementos de sustentabilidade e replicabilidade dessa ação como política pública de livro, leitura e cultura no sistema prisional.

Abstract
The aim of this article is to present an experience in cultural, literary and voluntary reading mediation, held in a women’s prison unit. It is a project to reduce the prison sentence through reading. The project “Travessia” is an initiative of professors and students of the University of São Paulo (USP), who hold weekly meetings at the Women’s Penitentiary in the city of São Paulo, with a group of women inmates and who, through shared reading and literary bibliodiversity, seek to guarantee a right: reduce the prison sentence. From this experience, it seeks elements of sustainability and replicability of this action as public policy of books, reading and culture actions in the prison system.
