RESUMO
O presente artigo trata da complexa questão do turismo. Tem como li- nha de raciocínio a breve e geral reflexão sobre o turismo como atividade econômica e setor gerador de trabalho e renda. Dessa forma busca ofere- cer análise a respeito da situação do turismo no Brasil. Espera-se, assim, poder contribuir no debate importante acerca do potencial econômico do turismo e suas oportunidades de renda e trabalho decente aos brasileiros.

ABSTRACT
This article deals with the complex issue of tourism. Its line of reasoning is the brief and general reflection on tourism as an economic activity and sector that generates work and income. In this way, it seeks to offer analysis regarding the situation of tourism in Brazil. It is hoped, therefore, to be able to contribute to the important debate about the economic potential of tou- rism and its opportunities for income and decent work for Brazilians.
