Cultural diversity

Encouraging social interaction, respect and self-determination, and accepting the legitimacy of difference, are key elements of the cultural diversity activities, which seek to raise awareness and recognize different cultures and cultural manifestations. Indigenous peoples, traditional communities, Afro-Brazilians, people with different gender identities, and people from cultures whose civil rights or right to expression are somehow threatened are all priority groups in the discussions on cultural diversity that seek to participate in the process of Brazil’s symbolic reconstruction as a multicultural and pluralistic community, that is free from domination and exclusion.
