Food

Sesc encourages healthy eating habits, both for individuals and groups, and expanding autonomy when it comes to food choices. These goals are pursued through educational activities, offering balanced meals at subsidized and reasonable prices at our restaurants, and selling a variety of products at our cafeterias, theater cafés and snack stands. All services stress food safety, security and quality.

Known as Comedorias (Eateries), our dining halls are designed to encourage visitors and attendees to eat together, thereby turning meals into an opportunity to interact and spend time together. Our dining areas emphasize three key values: health – prioritizing fresh food; Brazil – showcasing regional foods that are central to Brazilian culture; and contemporary cuisine – innovating and mixing flavors.

Sesc São Paulo has nine restaurants, eight open to the general public and offering portion-based or pay-by-weight dining, and one at the Sesc Bertioga Holiday Center open to guests only. The institution also has 65 cafeterias, theater cafés and gym-side and pool-side snack bars.

When it comes to food, Sesc believes in maximizing resources, ensuring that operations are environmentally sustainable. This includes making full use of foods, cooking with seasonal fruit and vegetables, reducing waste, scaling down the use of disposable goods, and using energy- and water-efficient equipment.

Our food-oriented educational activities are crosscutting and based on the basic human right to food, and the basis for our actions are the epidemiological landscape, current food concerns, and suitable and healthy food consumption. Their objective is to raise people’s awareness concerning healthy habits in order to prevent food- and nutrition-related diseases.
