Cultural Mediation and Management Mediation

To honor its institutional mission, Sesc has always pursued myriad social and cultural actions that take into account the varied historical circumstances it has encounters. This aggregate experience over the years recently came to the fore with increased capacity building initiatives in cultural mediation and management. These sessions enable participants to share knowledge developed at Sesc and form a dialogue with other mediation methods.

Cultural Mediation and Management initiatives, which assume a number of formats – classes, seminars, debates, workshops, experiences, etc. – are held at different venues and, most regularly, at Sesc’s Research and Training Center (CPF Sesc). CPF Sesc is a center that specializes in cultural mediation and management. It includes three divisions – training, research and dissemination – and proposes actions largely focused on preparing and coaching individuals who work or intend to work in the field of cultural organization.

The training division offers short-term, medium-term and long-term courses that cover the many aspects of social and cultural interactions. The research division encourages studies into cultural mediation and management. The most notable publication this year was “Culture and Leisure: The Cultural Practices of Sesc São Paulo Visitors and Attendees.” The dissemination division seeks to expand the reach of the knowledge generated by or related to CPF Sesc. Of note is the online Research and Training Center Magazine, which includes reports on day-to-day activities, interviews, reviews and poems.
